Rebecca

Rebecca was registered as a gray shepherd, but its appearance became nearly that of a red, black coated one. The color of its coat lived a bit depending on the season. During its growth-period Rebecca was a quick little coyote, but slowly grew more muscles and also some body-weight. Rebecca was a fit youngster, but had slightly flat feet. It's head was most feminine: Rebecca had a nice, keen expression and a special glinting in its eyes.

Rebecca's character was that of an energetic and happy-happy dog. Rebecca was a lively and most agile little bitch. At times, I hoped that it would have had a little more patience and ability for concentration but at the same time I couldn't help but to laugh at it's silly energy-bursts. I loved this silly, confident girl a lot.

Rebecca was quite easy within our pack - it was very social even with outsiders as it had a suitably confident strong temperament. It was also quick to learn but its attention span was never very long. That's why our 'training' was mostly quite fast and intense.

Rebecca was very easygoing but extremely mobile and - I must admit - loud. As a puppy it was a loud-mouthed singer puppy but it quieted down quit well. It mainly kept whining when we arrived somewhere nice with our car. But before its end Rebecca became at some level more anxious than before - due to pain - and also its noise level grew.

Rebecca was a healthy dog in our every day life although its hip and elbow results were a slight disappointment. There was no apparent osteoarthrosis before its fourth year and it had clean, sound movements, which was positive. I started to believe that Rebecca would live nicely over ten years at the minimum. But in the autumn of 2009, Rebecca started to have problems in its right hind leg and paw. It was x-rayed many times and Rebecca was treated with antibiotics, cortisone and pain killers. In spring 2010 the symptoms got worse, and we visited the vet once more. It was a horrible shock to us, when the vet started to speak that the changes point to osteosarcoma and asked if we wanted to have the worse hind leg amputated. We decided to relieve Rebecca but it is still hard to believe that she's gone.
